Sweet Peas are probably my favourite flowers, the colours, scent and memories of home as my father has grown them for over 60 years.
I start by sowing seeds around Bonfire night, growing them through the winter, planting out at Easter and cutting in June & July.
Here at Courtlands we are plagued by pigeons and they will eat the young plants, so they have to be netted for a month. Also I just allow this climbing plant to grow up through pea netting rather than as cordons up canes. BUT it is definitely worth all the effort.
