Churchyard Volunteer Group

 Churchyard working party.

 next date:
Usually we meet on the first Monday of the month.
However due to the next 2 first Mondays being Bank Holidays, we will be meeting on Tuesdays 7th April & 5th May 2026.

Jobs include weeding, raking, pruning, sweeping, tidying, cleaning and brushing. So, there are lots of tasks, requiring varying energy levels, so something for everyone! Tea, cakes (and chat) as a reward! Please bring gloves if possible.

Thank you to everyone who helped at March’s working party.
We achieved the following.
1) Fed some of the Daffodils.
2) Split & replanted snowdrops on the Churchyard verge.
3) Planted Tete -a – tete daffodils.
4) Pruned Hydrangeas.
5) Cut off low feathery growth from a Yew tree.
6) Emptied waste bins, organic material going on to the compost heap.
7) Drank tea & ate jam tarts

October’s Working Party. Before, during and after Monday’s Churchyard Working Party at St. Margaret’s. Lots achieved including the use of our own compost, made on site, in the flower beds. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help keep our churchyard looking beautiful. It’s much appreciated by all who visit.

If you would like to get involved please just come along, likewise if you would like to know more please contact Derek Shurvell  derekshurvell@gmail.com 01342 810780.

Together we can keep the Churchyard tidy, make a difference and develop new ideas & projects.

No experience is needed – just bring enthusiasm, gloves and secateurs if you have them.  There’s a job for every level of ability and fitness – come and join us!  Read our blog here.
