This week our local farmer has been hay making in the large field below Courtlands.
I find it very evocative. A century ago an army of men, heavy horses and boys would have been involved: scything, turning, & carting.
Today one man, a tractor and assorted machinery plus an accurate forecast, gets the hay in.
