March update

Cathy Merry writes: Work on the project continues behind the scenes and architectural surveys will be carried out shortly.  We need a formal acceptance of our proposals from the DAC in order to be able to make further grant applications.  In the meantime, informal consultations with potential building contractors are taking place to look at costings and areas of cost savings that might be achievable.
Following the excellent Recital of Organ Favourites by top organist Michael Heighway at St. Margaret’s on Sunday 18th March, the next fund-raising event for your diary is an Illustrated Talk by Tom Coward, Head Gardener at Gravetye Manor, entitled ‘Developing an Historic Garden’ on Wednesday 11th April at 7.30pm at St. Margaret’s Church.
Tickets are £10, to include wine & nibbles, from Derek Shurvell 01342 810780 or email  derekshurvell@gmail.com
Tom has been Head Gardener at Gravetye for 7 years after 3 years as Assistant Head Gardener at Great Dixter, another of England’s premier gardens.
On May 19th, we look forward to welcoming our local Inchoir with their lively programme of popular songs. Contact Derek Shurvell 01242 810780 or Cathy Merry 07968 688380 for details.

Looking further ahead, a sponsored walk around the Weirwood reservoir is planned for Saturday, 16th June. See separate article in the Chronicle for details.

If you would like to donate to the extension fund, please visit the church website at www.westhoathly.org.uk for details of how to make payment and for Gift Aid forms. Cheques, payable to West Hoathly St. Margaret’s PCC, can be sent to Tina Allen, Church Treasurer, at West Hoathly School. All donations are most gratefully received.
