Bell Ringers’ Day Out at St Paul’s

Derek writes:

Bell ringers from West Hoathly, Ardingly and neighbouring towers went on an outing to St. Paul’s Cathedral yesterday.

Many of you will know David Perkins who grew up in West Hoathly and was taught to Bell ring by Rachel Edwards (W H Tower Captain) when she was teaching at West Hoathly CoE Primary School.

Over the next 25 years or so he has worked to perfect this art to a level where he now rings at St. Pauls, probably the best ringing tower in England. He very kindly organised a trip for 11 of us to watch the bells ( 12 ) being rung and then up to the Belfry to see them swinging and to look out on the London skyline. It was a very special day, thank you David.
